How To Stay 'Faithful' To Your Diet Through The Holidays

With the holidays on the way, it is hard to stay on your diet restrictions, since there are plenty of delicious food and drinks on the table. Many of you think that you can't enjoy your Christmas feast while being on a diet, but here are some tips and tricks to guide you throughout the holiday' celebration.

1. Inform the host about your dietary restrictions.
Give the host a heads-up about your diet so he/she can have time to plan a meal that is suitable for you. For example, if you have a gluten allergy, instead of cake the host can prep a fruit salad for you for dessert.

2. Ask the host about the menu. This is useful, especially for people with allergies. Get to know the ingredients in each dish, so you know what to eat and what to skip. Also, people that suffer from diabetes should inform themselves about meal timing, since they have to stick to a schedule to balance the insulin levels.
3. Offer to bring a dish.
Ask the host if you can help him by bringing your specialty to the party. This way you will know exactly what you are eating and you won't leave the party hungry.

4. Eat a well-balanced meal before arriving at the party. Better safe than sorry. Don't leave your home with an empty belly if you're not informed about the host's menu.

5. Politely decline. Although you may be offered different delicious specialties, you must know how to politely say 'NO'. Don't be shy or afraid to decline something that defies your diet. Feel free to say ' No, thank you' without giving anyone an explanation why.

6. Focus on socializing. Don't let the menu beat your Christmas spirit. Take this opportunity to spend quality time with friends and family. Focus on real-life conversations instead of texting and face-timing.
